A Lesson Before Dying (Chapter 9-11) Repost

Chapter 9
This chapter made me reflect on moments where I was in denial about situations that happened in life. Jefferson seems to go against Miss Emma because he is reminded of home by the food she brought for him to eat. On one side it made me think is Jefferson suffering internally because he is guilty of something he did and didn't admit or his he just feeling that the process is tedious because he is waiting for the day they call him to finish his sentence. Jefferson comes off in aggressive way making Miss Emma feel like she vexing Jefferson.

Chapter 10
This chapter dealt with Miss Emma and Tante Lou telling Grant he has to go visit Jefferson alone at the jail because Miss Emma is sick. Grant explains he feels it is out of his field to be doing these things especially alone. He even questions if Miss Emma is actually sick. With this being said it was ironic to me that he thought Miss Emma was faking, yet he was about to go back and lie about Jefferson's actions. I also felt a connection with Grant when he felt as if it was not his job to be visiting and "helping" him because there are moments in my life when I get asked to do things I feel have nothing to do with me.

Chapter 11
This chapter was very relatable because if the fact that since Jefferson was being called a hog he sarcastically began to act as an hog. Sometimes in life we can be called something or looked at in a certain way and begin to act as that think just because that's what the majority is saying, but knowing we're not necessarily that thing. We are just acting that way to get some type of point across. Sometime as individuals we can act petty to go against what people say. This is kind of what Jefferson when Jefferson was acting out as an hog. Furthermore the chapter symbolizes the food that Jefferson asked for such as corn. He said that's what hogs eat. So he wasn't so much feeding into what the people were saying about him, but to be sarcastic in saying " Is this what you say I am?"
